Where are you originally from?

I’m from Pasadena, California.

Do you do a majority of your work out of Pasadena, California or L.A?

Hollywood, just all around Hollywood.

How long have you been doing production?

From beginning to now its 3 years, since I was 16 that’s when I started fresh not knowing anything about producing.

Who or what influenced you to get into the entertainment industry?

My uncle was in a group back in the late 80’s called Troop. I was always around it and they had a couple of hits. They weren't the biggest group but they had a couple of number one hits and I was always around it.

So you would say your Uncle was the biggest influence on you?

As far as in my younger years, yea.

What made you decide to do it full time at the age 16 though?

I was rapping at first. I wanted to start rapping at the age 13 and then I got into a group and that didn’t work out. That lead to me making beats because the partner that I was in the group with made all the beats. One day I just started messing around on his little computer and all he had was just a computer, no keyboard, no nothing. We just use to make beats on a program called fruity loops and I just start messing around one day and it took over.

How would you describe your sound?

I don’t really have a set sound. I’m pretty much spur of the moment whatever I’m feeling at the time. I don’t really sit down at the keyboard and say I’m  gonna make this unless I’m in with a artist that is asking for particular sound. I don’t really care to move to one side, I’m pretty much versatile.

So you’re not one of those producers that when you’re putting a record together,  you’ll think to yourself that this person will sound better on this than this person?

Well yea of course I’ll do that. The thing is I wouldn’t give the same track to like a different artist. I would go in their direction with it, if I’m in with a particular artist. But when I’m just being creative by myself, I just come up with whatever is on my mind.

When people get a chance to hear some of your records they can't believe that you are only 19. What is it do you think separates you from other producers your age?

My drive, my hunger. I really don’t go out a lot even in high school. I don’t want to say I was a loser but I wasn’t the most popular kid because I went to school and I came straight home and made beats. Sometimes I would even skip homework to make beats. It’s just my drive. A lot of older guys say they wish they were doing what I am doing when they were my age

So you’re saying your determination kind of created your sound.

Yea

What has been your biggest moment on your journey so far?

So far, may be meeting Polow Da Don over myspace which lead to me getting some money by getting some joints placed. I sent him a friend request before I went to church one Sunday and when I got back from church he sent me a message in my inbox saying, “Lets get this paper.” I was very surprised because I knew a lot about him and I respected him and I never would have expected him to hit me up. So he has already made me a cool amount money for the time that I have known him. A great amount of money actually for the time that I have known him.

Speaking of that, what artist are you getting placed with?

I can’t really disclose them right now. He told me to just keep it really under the wraps. Maybe you shouldn’t really say I got the joints placed but say I got some great looks basically. Basically I’m doing a song deal with Polow.

Besides producing, is there anything that you also do? Are you doing any writing?

That’s what I did first but the production just got so heavy on me and that’s what I wanted to do so I stopped writing for a minute but I’m getting back into to it. I really do want to get back into the artist side of it because I wasn’t to bad at rapping so I might just develop it and not really put it out there to much until I’m satisfied with what I got.

Besides the stuff you’re working with Polow Da Don, is there anything else as far as any other artist you’re currently working with right.

Yea this kid named Prince Charles. I just did a song with him called “Straight Out of Compton” and its going to be getting some good looks out here as far as on radio and big mix tapes. DJ Skee is going to do a lot of stuff with it and we’re hoping it just takes off out here. He’s getting looks from Dr. Dre and Jive. We just had a meeting with the President of Jive and he’s really interested in him. He also is interested in my production so that could be another great look.

Is Prince Charles a Rapper or a Singer?

He is a Singer.

Is a majority of your production R&B?

No, its not, I’m all around. I do pop, I do alternative. I do pretty much everything.

How can someone get a Hit-Boy beat?

Basically just get at me however. It all depends on the situation like. I don’t want to be one of those people that’s doesn't want to work with you if you don’t have a deal because I remember when I was rapping I couldn’t get no hot beat so I know how it is. I’m understanding but at the same time I’ve been hustling on my own and I’ve been supporting myself. I haven’t gone a day hungry because of this music and I won't cheat myself but I’m willing to help.

A lot of producers right now are kind of putting out their own mix tapes of people they've work with. Is that in the future for you?

I’ve been asked to do it. I haven’t really took the initiative to do it yet but it could be something it could be possible.
