How did you get into singing?

It’s just something I’ve been doing ever since I was a little kid. Everybody started when they where in church. When I was six years old I starting singing at church in the choir. Ever since then, it was something that I always did.  It was then I knew I wanted to do it for a living.

Was there anyone that influenced you or gave you that desire to follow your dreams?

It was my mom who pushed me into singing. She was a singer in the choir. She pushed me the most of out everyone. But I’m influenced by good music in general. Anyone who was out there doing it and doing it well.

What’s your current situation now? Are you singed or unsigned? Are you looking?

Right now we have a few offers on the table. We’re taking a look at everything right now. Seeing who has the most to offer. We’re thinking about longevity as an artist. We’re just trying to make the best decisions. But everything’s a go, everything’s moving, everything’s cool.

Don’t want to name any names?

No, not yet, not yet?

Speaking of deals, there’s a rumor that you might be doing a joint venture with the Runners.

Those are my boys. I’ve been working with them for a minute. A few years ago, my boy D-Strong introduced me to them. We have a lot of chemistry. I got some heat with the Runners..

When Llyod Banks shoot the video for "Karma", how come you were not in the video but you were on the album?

Everything is about business. Nothing is ever personal. They decided to put Avant in the video. They signed Avant to Interscope and G-Unit is through Interscope. It was a way for them to promote their new artist for free. I can respect that. There is no hard feelings. I’m on the album version though, so check me out there.

Right now, is "Limelight" the actual record you’re pushing, or is it just a test so people can find out who KC is?

We’re about to start pushing it. We tested it and it tested real well. So we’re about to go full speed with it right now.

Have you started working on the album?

I have like 40 songs recorded. I write all the songs that I do. Even if they don’t’ make it on my album, we try to get it on someone’s else’s album. It’s just about perfecting the craft, whether it makes the album or not. We don’t know yet, but I'm always recording.

Time is always a factor. Since you have so many songs recorded, are you considering putting out an independent album if you don’t get singed before then?

Oh definitely. We’ll probably do something in the form of a mixed tape. Not necessarily an independent album . But like I said everything is going good so we should be making the deadline.

With the Orlando market not being the best and not having a lot of artist coming out that are actually blowing, do you think it’s going to be a little harder for you to get out there?

I don’t really think of it as an Orlando thing. It’s more like a Florida movement. You know what I mean. We’re getting a lot of new found respect with the Miami movement. And there are a lot of talented people in Orlando. You know, a lot of people don’t look at Orlando and see music. But we’re trying to change there minds and get it going.

I know lately you’ve been getting ready for a couple of shows. What can the ladies expect when they come to a KC show?

They can expect to have fun, they can expect sexy, just a good performance and a good time. We're gonna have fun, so come out and check me out.

What producers have you worked with or are looking forward to working with on the album?

So far I’ve worked with a guy named Ninth Wonder. He did a few joints. He’s a part of Little Brother, a rap group out of North Carolina. He produced "Threat" on the Jay-Z Black album. I worked with a guy named Shay Taylor who did some Ne-Yo stuff. And of course The Runners. But I’m looking forward to working with anyone who can bring some heat. Of course there’s people like Timberland, Pharrell and Lil John, which any artist would want to work with.

Besides singing, do you produce, choreograph, or ghostwrite for anybody?

I write all the stuff that I do. I do a little production; I’ve done that with a lot of my earlier stuff. Right now I’ve just been focusing on writing.

Besides singing, are you trying to get into any acting or modeling?

We’ll see. There’s definitely life after music. I'm not really sure where I want to go with it, but I definitely want to do things besides music.

What can we expect from you in the next couple of months?

Expect to hear a lot more from me, be on the scene, be everywhere, and just take this music thing to another level.

There is a comment on your MySpace page about Donnell Jones. What’s up with that?

Yeah (laughs), a while back we were in contact with Arista before they turned into Jive. Donnell Jones wanted the record "Love in September". We were going to sell it to him, but in the mists of Arista turning into Jive, he lost his recording budget. The CEO left. It was L.A. Reid who was over at Arista, now he’s at Def Jam. So on the business end, it was a lot of things that didn’t happen and it resulted in him not getting the song. It’s still my song, but some how they put it out. It was out on Limewire and it said Donnell Jones. I can’t really tell you how it happened. But it’s still me on it, you know what I mean.

So it’s your voice and everything and people think it’s Donnel Jones?

Yeah, it’s still my voice but that’s what people think because when you go on there it says "Love in September" and it has his name. We never even completed the deal for him to get the song. He never even cut vocals on it. So yeah, it’s still me.

A big thing right now is a lot of artist are getting follow up acts. Do you plan on having any follow up acts that come after you? Do you have any artists that you are trying to put out?

Not right now. I think many artists make that mistake and try to put out artists too fast. I’m just trying to focus on me right now and establish myself. I think it’s hard for an artist to come out without the attention of everyone and then tell others to look at this new artist that I got. The label business is a tough thing to do and a lot of people under estimate that a lot. But it’s just about me right now. I see a lot of talent out here, but like I said before, I would like to work with them, but as far as me putting them out there, it won’t be anytime in the near future. But it’s on my mind though.
